Event Description

This event aims to create a dialogue of shared experiences faced by individuals of the transgender community.
Realities of anti-transgender violence, harassment, discrimination, HIV, Poverty, Lack of Legal Protection,
barriers to healthcare and others the impact the social, physical and mental well-being of many transgender
individuals in America has become too common. By creating an opportunity for transgender individuals from
various walks of life and many regions of this county, T-Time, allows an opportunity for an open dialogue to
create a cross-regional peer to peer support, best practices and lessons learned, vital to the success, and
empowerment of transgender persons nationwide.

Guest Speakers, Transgender Activist Alejandro Santiago, and Autumn Carter and others will have an
opportunity to address a captivated audience to provide a framework for success to transgender individuals
and allies in attendance in a session facilitated by local Transgender Activist Charmaine Eccles. As we
approach Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), this event serves as not just a time to remember trans
persons that have lost their lives to violence, but create opportunities for networking and dialogue to begin to
create systems of success for a marginalized community.

Following this event, we envision participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the structural and systemic barriers faced by transgender persons.
• Show an understanding of the options to navigate systems to achieve desired results as a transgender
person
• Display an understanding of ways the transgender persons can get involved in advocacy, community
mobilization and leadership.
• Apply action steps needed to protect the rights of transgender persons locally and nationally
